The Secret World was specially created for the 90th YC Gala Day Auction. Floating on a boat, two human figures are having a relaxing row around a beautiful fish pond filled with lotus leaves and flowers. Upon closer inspection, however, the picture seems to be out of proportion. The lotus leaves look gigantic when compared with the human figures. If the lotus leaves are life-sized, then the figures must only be four-inch-tall people. This work brings to mind one of Studio Ghibli’s animations, ‘The Secret World of Arrietty’, a story about four-inch-tall people who borrow simple objects from life-sized humans to sustain life and make their small homes. If you are the successful bidder for this work, and some objects of your home start to go missing, you will know who has been visiting your home!
